A NUMBER of army medals were among items to have been stolen from a home in Stourport.

The burglary took place at a property in the Bigbury area of Upper Mitton at around 10.50am on Tuesday, January 10.

It is understood that the thieves forced their way into the property and carried out an untidy search.

An number of army medals - including a long service and good conduct medal, an accumulated service medal, a Golden jubilee medal, a former Yugoslavia medal, a Northern Ireland medal and a British Empire medal - gathered in more than 37 years of service, are reported to have been stolen.

A yellow metal Rotary wrist watch with a brown strap and other items of jewellery were also believed to have been taken.

West Mercia Police officers are keen to speak to anyone who saw the incident or witnessed anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time.

They are also urging anyone who is offered medals for sale to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident reference number 182S of January 10.
