JAMES Earl Jones will reprise his role from the Lion King in the new live-action remake, the film’s director has revealed.

The veteran US actor voiced Simba’s father Mufasa in the original 1994 Disney animation, which won two Oscars and earned 968 million dollars (£780 million) at the box office.

Jon Favreau, who is directing the new version, posted a photo of James on Twitter with the caption: “Looking forward to working with this legend #mufasa.”

ANGELINA Jolie has shared her hopes that her latest film will raise awareness of the plight of young people trapped in war zones.

Set to release on Netflix later this year, First They Killed My Father is based on the life story of human rights activist Loung Ung under the communist Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia in the 1970s.

Angelina, 41, said at a conference in Siem Reap on Saturday: “Her story is their story and so this is, in many ways, universal, and we hope that that is something that you think about as well… (I hope it will) remind everybody that there are little Loungs all around the world today.”

The star is currently taking a “short break” from filming following reports that he was suffering from exhaustion.

KYLIE Minogue is the latest star to have been tipped as a possible new host for the return of matchmaking show Blind Date.

According to a report in The Sun, the show’s creators have been discussing whether it would be possible to get the All The Lovers singer on board following her recent split from fiance Joshua Sasse.

A source told the newspaper: “They know this is their chance to land an A-lister and Kylie has been discussed because she is so likeable.”
