A MAN was airlifted to hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest at the wheel of his car near Kidderminster town centre.

West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Mercia Police were called to the junction of Comberton Hill and the A451, the Ringway, at around 10am this morning (February 24).

The Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford have also landed nearby at Aggborough Stadium to attend the incident.

A spokesman from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "The patient - a man - suffered a cardiac arrest at the wheel.

"We administered CPR and advanced life support at the scene. 

"He was airlifted to Worcestershire Royal Hospital with treatment continuing on board.

"It looks as if the car came to a stop but was not involved in a crash.

"We had two ambulances at the scene and the Midlands Air Ambulance, from Cosford."

A spokesman from West Mercia Police added: "A man has been taken ill in the car on the ring road."
