PLANNING officers have given the green light to install floodlights on a new artificial football pitch at a Wolverley school which will be available for clubs and individuals to use.

Wolverley CE Secondary School, in Blakeshall Lane, has been given permission to install six new eight-metre floodlights on the AstroTurf pitch.

Installation is expected to begin in the coming weeks, with completion and opening of the pitch to clubs and individuals in the coming months.

The facility will be available to hire between 5pm and 9pm on weeknights, and until 6pm on weekends.

A spokesman for the school said: "The floodlights will allow local clubs and individuals to hire AstroTurf in the evenings for training and recreational purposes throughout the year.

"The installation of the floodlights will bring the project to completion after the new surface was installed almost a year ago - the ability to hire the facility out to local people will be extremely beneficial to local clubs and will provide a quality and affordable facility to both young people and adults alike.

"The AstroTurf has proved extremely popular so far with local clubs looking to book for next season."

Once the floodlights have been installed, there will be an introductory offer for clubs and groups looking to use the facility over the spring and summer months.
