A MOTORCYCLIST has been taken to hospital following a crash in the Birchen Coppice area of Kidderminster on Tuesday morning.

West Midlands Ambulance Service, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service and West Mercia Police were called to Walter Nash Road West at around 11am on Tuesday (February 28) following reports of a crash involving a van and a motorbike.

The motorcyclist, believed to be in his 50s, was taken to hospital.

A spokesman from WMAS said: "One ambulance attended the scene and treated the motorcyclist who had sustained a leg and back injury.

"The patient was taken to Russells Hall Hospital, in Dudley."

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "The rider of the motorcycle - believed to be in his 50s - was treated by the ambulance service and taken to hospital.

"The road was initially closed but was reopened around two hours later."

A spokesman from HWFRS added: "The crash involved one van and one motorcycle.

"The motorcycle was made safe by fire service personnel.

"One male casualty was treated by paramedics at the scene, before being transferred to hospital by ambulance.

"The incident was left with the police.

"One crew from Kidderminster fire station attended."
