DOZENS of new jobs will be created when a new £1million French restaurant opens in Kidderminster town centre this summer.

Independent restaurant group Bistrot Pierre has confirmed it is to open a branch in the new Riverside Walk retail and leisure development, next to Weaver’s Wharf.

The group is investing almost £1million in the new venue, which will see up to 50 jobs created for people in the area.

It will seat 138 diners inside the restaurant, which will boast French-styled interiors, and an outdoor terrace overlooking the river.

Rob Beacham, co-owner for Bistrot Pierre, who set up the group with school friend, John Whitehead, said he was delighted to secure the site that covers almost 4,000 square feet.

He said: “Kidderminster has received significant investment recently, with several initiatives planned to improve its local infrastructure and leisure/retail offering to residents.

“It was an ideal location for Bistrot Pierre’s new restaurant following the success of the Birmingham site that opened during summer last year.

“We are looking forward to bringing our French bistro cooking to Kidderminster and building a loyal customer base in the area, whilst creating employment opportunities and playing a part in the regeneration plans of this historic town.”

The group, founded in Nottingham in 1994, and specialises in authentic French food and drink throughout day.

Mr Beacham said their chefs travel to France regularly to update menus with seasonal ingredients and provincial French meals. Dishes include as steak-frites, boeuf bourguignon and crème brûlée.

Kidderminster will be the newest restaurant to open as part of the group’s expansion plans. It already boasts 17 bistros across the UK.
