A NEW programme to help residents become fitter and healthier has been launched in Wyre Forest.

The free programme named, Shape Up, will run for a period of 12 weeks and see participants, supported by both the Living Well Service and Wyre Forest Leisure Centre, encouraged to make healthy lifestyle choices relating to food and fitness.

Advice will be given on healthy eating and encouraged to try new activities at the leisure centre such as aqua classes, cycling and circuits.

Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Well-being and Housing Councillor Juliet Smith said: “Everyone has a responsibility to take care of their own health and being able to make the right lifestyle choices is fundamentally important.

“It isn’t always easy to try new things or learn new skills so this programme is a not to be missed opportunity to try something new in the wonderful setting of our new Wyre Forest Leisure Centre.”

Jayne McCullough, County Coordinator for the Living Well Service, said “The Living Well service is delighted to be working in partnership with Wyre Forest Leisure Centre to deliver the Shape Up Programme.

”We believe together we can support and motive people in the area to look at improving their health and wellbeing as well as encouraging them to maintain the changes they will have made as part of the programme.”

Programmes start this month at the Wyre Forest Leisure Centre and for more information contact the Living Well service on 01905 675850 or email livingwellhub@independencetrust.co.uk or visit www.sportspartnership.co.uk/shape-up
