TEACHING assistants could lose their jobs at a Kidderminster academy in a proposed restructure.

A consultation of teaching assistants facing the axe from King Charles I School, in Comberton Road, is currently underway. The school said it was working with the staff and union representatives to ensure the best outcome.

A spokesman added the providing “the highest possible standard of education” for their students remained their top priority.

A spokesman for King Charles I School said: “We can confirm that the school is currently consulting on a proposed restructure of its teaching assistants.

“This is a planned review which will affect a very small number of roles and we will be working closely via the consultation with staff and union representatives to ensure the best outcome for the school.

“Providing the highest possible standard of education for all our students will remain our top priority.”
