PUPILS at a Stourport school are taking part in a national sponsored reading event to provide books for ill children in hospital.

Youngsters at Burlish Park Primary School, in Windermere Way, will take part in the Readathon event - which provides new books and storyteller visits to brighten up the days of children in hospitals across the UK.

Lynda Williams, eco school co-ordinator at Burlish Park, said: "Pupils at Burlish Park love helping other children and are spending as much time as possible reading books to raise money for this worthy cause.

"Readathon is a great way to inspire and motivate our pupils to read while raising money to purchase books for children in hospital."

In one year, money raised from Readathon events gave hospitals more than 25,000 new books and provide 210 storytelling days - bringing the magic of books and stories to more than 100,000 seriously ill children and their families.
