A MAN was taken to hospital after falling from the second floor of a hotel in Kidderminster town centre.

Officers from West Mercia Police were called to the Lion Hotel, in Lion Street, shortly after 2am on Sunday (March 19) after concerns were raised for the safety of a man.

Police say a man in his 50s sustained head and upper body injuries from the fall. He was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

A spokesman from West Mercia Police said: "The man, who is in his 50s, fell from the second floor of the building onto the ground, sustaining head and upper body injuries.

"The injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

"He was taken by ambulance to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital where his condition was said to be stable." 

West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to the scene by West Mercia Police. 

A spokesman from WMAS added: "A man was treated on scene after suffering head and back pain following a fall.

"The man was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

"An ambulance, a paramedic area support officer, HART paramedics and a MERIT trauma doctor attended the scene."
