PUPILS from a Stourport school are asking residents to do their bit for the planet and join millions in switching off their lights on Saturday (March 25).

Burlish Park Primary School pupils are urging residents, businesses and organisations to get behind WWF Earth Hour - a worldwide event which aims to get millions of people to switch off to raise awareness of climate change and the effect it is having on the planet.

People are asked to turn their lights off for just one hour between 8.30pm and 9.30pm on Saturday (March 25).

Lynda Williams, eco school co-ordinator, said: "This year is the ten-year anniversary of Earth Hour.

"We will be promoting the event at school on Friday (March 24) to encourage as many pupils as possible to 'turn off the power and show support for Earth Hour' on Saturday.

"Pupils are bysy designing posters, planting tree seeds and saplings to celebrate the event."
