SEVERN Valley Railway has all the ingredients for a great day out this Easter, with exciting steam trains, fantastic events and plenty to explore.

The SVR's collection of heritage steam locomotives will be in full steam throughout the Easter holidays, from Saturday, April 8, and Sunday, April 23, taking visitors on a journey of adventure - back to the golden age of steam.

Passengers can hop on and off to explore any of the SVR's six restored stations or head to the Engine House Visitor Centre, where children can enter a 'spot the Easter bunny' competition, with prizes on offer and the chance to win a family Freedom of the Line ticket.

While there, visitors can see two new exhibitions 'the Art of the Railway Poster' and 'Signs of the Times'.

Visitors can also meet the engine that collided with a camel, learn about how the SVR works and sort the mail in the travelling post office. Youngsters can also let off steam on the outdoor railway-themed play area.

If full-size steam trains weren't enough, people can take a ride on the Coalyard Miniature Railway at Kidderminster - operating on selected dates, weather permitting.

The SVR will then prepare to welcome children's favourites Peppa Pig and George, who will pay a special visit to the Railway on May 6, and May 7.

Clare Gibbard, SVR's marketing and communications manager, said: "There's a whole host of family fun taking place this Easter.

"The Engine House will be a hive of activity, with plenty to see and do, including new exhibitions, great fun exhibits and - of course, all those elusive Easter bunnies hiding, waiting to be spotted.

"Our home fleet of historic steam engines will be working an intensive timetable, taking our visitors along the line for a journey back in time, through the beautiful Severn Valley."
