A STOURPORT charity that supports vulnerable children has transformed part of its centre thanks to a grant from a phone firm.

Kidderminster Vodafone selected Mentor Link to receive £1,000 through the company’s Community Connection Award scheme.

And the charity, which provides mentors to vulnerable and distressed children and young people and helps them cope with issues such as self-harm, bullying and bereavement, has used the money to refurbish the mentor room and waiting area in the wellbeing centre.

The transformation has made the centre, which is the main hub for the Community Mentoring programme in Wyre Forest, more welcoming and relaxing for service users, their parents and other visitors.

Last year, Mentor Link provided help and support to 292 children and young people.

Andrea Maddocks MBE, CEO of Mentor Link said: “A big thank you to Vodafone for helping us to create a warm and comfortable environment for the distressed children that we provide mentoring support to in Stourport.”

Jake Folley-Davey, Vodafone Store Manager in Kidderminster said “Mentor Link couldn’t be a more deserving winner, their work truly makes a difference to the young people in our community.

“We’re thrilled that we were able to help them improve their Wellbeing Centre.”

Vodafone launched the Community Connections Awards in 2014 and are aimed at supporting good local causes.
