CHURCHES Together in Kidderminster has organised an election hustings of candidates standing for election to Wyre Forest's parliamentary seat.

All five candidates have been invited to answer questions from residents at St John's Church, in Bewdley Road, from 7pm on Friday (May 19).

The candidates attending are UKIP's George Connolly, Conservative Mark Garnier, Labour's Matthew Lamb and the Liberal Democrats' Shazu Miah. Green Party candidate Brett Caulfield is unable to attend, but the party will send another currently unconfirmed representative.

The event is open to anyone.

A spokesman said: "Candidates will have the opportunity to introduce themselves before responding to your questions.

"We hope this meeting will give you the opportunity to gain a clear insight into their priorities.

"We are fortunate to live in a democracy and whatever we think or feel about our politicians and the state of the nation, this is an opportunity to question our candidates and use our vote to make a difference."

Last week, it was announced the Green Party's Brett Caulfield, UKIP's George Connolly, Conservative Mark Garnier, Labour's Matthew Lamb and the Liberal Democrats' Shazu Miah would stand for election to the Wyre Forest parliamentary seat on June 8.

The hustings event has been organised by the Kidderminster West Team Ministry on behalf of Churches Together Kidderminster.
