CLAIMS that a 12-year-old girl was abducted by four men in a black taxi are 'bogus', police have confirmed.

The Pedmore Technology College year seven student claimed she had been abducted and driven around for 90 minutes on Thursday afternoon (May 18), spreading fear amongst parents and teachers across the Black Country.

West Midlands Police launched an investigation into the claims and detectives spent countless hours trawling CCTV cameras in and around the area in a bid to identify the vehicle and any offenders.

But after monitoring the girl's route, police found no evidence of the alleged attack.

A MAN was detained by police after fleeing the scene where a car crashed into a tree in Romsley.

Emergency services were alerted to the crash, which happened on St Kenelms Road, just after midnight on Saturday (May 20).

A crew from Bromsgrove Fire Station rushed to the scene, where two women had already managed to free themselves from the wreckage.

A RAPIST from Oldbury has finally been jailed after fleeing the country for eight years, following a brutal gang sex attack on a teenage girl.

Amar Mehraj, 29, of Giles Road, found police officers waiting for him at Birmingham Airport when he tried to slip back into the country after flying back from Pakistan in November.

Mehraj was charged for his part in a gang rape of a then 17-year-old girl in Oldbury in July 2009.

The three other rapists were convicted and jailed in 2010.

Mehraj admitted taking part in the attack at an earlier hearing and, on Friday, May 29, was sentenced to nine years and nine months in prison at Birmingham Crown Court.
