VISITORS can take a step back in time to a country estate near Stourport's Victorian heyday.

The Victorian age will be brought back to life at Witley Court, in Great Witley, between 11am and 5pm on Sunday (May 28) and Bank Holiday Monday (May 29).

The weekend is set to feature traditional entertainments and historical high-jinx including Victorian games, equestrian entertainment from an on-site horse show and falconry displays.

Melodies from the age of the Victorian Music Halls will also feature and there will be an opportunity to learn more about the life of Queen Victoria.

Historical horse shows will run throughout, featuring "leaping ladies" on horseback in period costume.

Vintage swing boats will also form part of the entertainment as will circus games.

Other attractions will include interactive activities for children, have-a-go stalls, a Punch and Judy show and historical harmonies from Theatre of Past Delight.

Visitors can try their luck at hoopla, bucket and ball, and the orange shy and have all the fun of the “un-fair” with Griffin Historical’s Victorian Side Stalls.

Jenny Hatton, Witley Court and Gardens site manager, said: "With a host of delights including horse show, swooping falcons, Punch and Judy and vintage stalls and games there’s something for everyone, so come on down."

The event also offers to see Witley Court’s historic Perseus and Andromeda fountain – one of the grandest in Europe - which is now firing once again on the hour during opening following major conservation works by English Heritage.
