ONE of the finest tribute acts to rock icons Led Zeppelin will be heading to Stourport next weekend.

Fred Zeppelin was formed 24 years ago by its four members who shared a love for Led Zeppelin’s music.

During the decades they have had the honour of Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant attending three of their gigs, and they have even played with John Bonham’s son Jason.

A spokesman said: "These things the band are very proud of. It must surely also be the best recommendation any band could receive, and also assure any Led Zeppelin fan apprehensive about seeing the Fredz.

"It is worth taking a camera with you as you don't know who could be standing next to you. In the audience have been Magnum's frontman, Bob Catley, and Whitesnake's guitarist, Mel Galley.

"Fred Zeppelin are real fans and formed the Fredz out of their admiration and love of Led Zeppelin's music.

"As their name suggests, the band do not take themselves too seriously, they know the praise belongs to Robert, Jimmy, John Paul Jones and Bonzo."

Fred Zeppelin have been voted one of the 10 best live bands to see in a Kerrang poll, and were the only tribute band listed in any category.

The band will be performing at the Wharf, in Mart Lane, Stourport, on Friday, June 30.

Tickets for the show cost £8 in advance from wegottickets.com/event/391958. Tickets are £10 on the door.

Doors open 8pm and the band will perform from 9pm. For more information, visit fred-zeppelin.com or search for 'Fred Zeppelin' on Facebook.
