CUBS from Blakedown were quick off the mark to wear special badges to support those affected by last month’s Manchester Arena bombings.

Members of the KD12 group from the village were the first in the district to wear a special badge produced to raise funds for the families of victims.

The Blakedown group’s 30-strong cub pack paraded the Working Bee badge for the first time this week and other Kidderminster groups will be following suit, including KD1 Sea Scouts and KD21 Brinton Park.

Following the Arianna Grande concert tragedy on May 22, Scout officials from Greater Manchester and the North West have been battling to meet an estimated 60,000 orders for the commemorative badge from Scouts all over the country.

Blackedown Akela Christine Harrison said: “We had a good response from parents who wanted to support the badge idea and we were lucky enough to be in the first batch of 10,000 badges sent out by the organisers.”

Anyone involved in Scouting can wear the badge as part of their uniform for a year and then transfer it to a camp blanket or safe place in memory of those who died in the tragedy.
