WORKERS in Kidderminster have been left shocked by the announcement of job losses at Victoria Carpets.

On Friday morning (June 23) employees at the company were told 66 jobs were likely to go after the company relocated manufacturing to two other sites.

LYE High Street was closed to traffic after a man was attacked with a machete on Friday (June 23).

Paramedics were called at around 9.40am and treated the man, a shopkeeper, for a serious head injury. The 36-year-old was taken to hospital but his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

A PAIR of royal silk knickers lost in Barnt Green, which were at the centre of a bizarre legal battle, will go on rare public viewing next month to raise money for charity.

The undergarments were worn by American socialite Wallis Simpson, whose marriage to King Edward VIII to become the Duchess of Windsor led to the 1936 abdication crisis.

A NEW Halesowen school addition could be a lifesaver in the community as Huntingtree Primary unveil their new defibrillator.

The Huntingtree Road school has been awarded a British Heart Foundation grant to fund the life-saving public access defibrillator (PAD), which will also be available for public use, as well as a CPR training kit.

REDDITCH council has said cladding in the district’s buildings is of “low risk in respect to fire” following a government call to check properties in response to the Grenfell Tower fire.

In line with his Communities and Local Government (DCLG) role, Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid last week demanded all councils supply data on cladding in buildings to ease residents’ ‘anxiety’ over the type of cladding in their area.
