TRIBUTES have been paid to a former Wyre Forest councillor who died last week.

Former Wyre Forest District Councillor Arthur Buckley passed away at home on Thursday, July 6.

Cllr Buckley had served on Wyre Forest District Council on two occasions. He represented the Habberley and Blakebrook ward between 2004 and 2006, and returned to the district council in 2008 to represent the Wribbenhall ward until 2012.

During his terms of office, he sat on both planning and licensing committees. He also served as a charter trustee of Kidderminster for two years.

Councillor John Campion, vice-chairman of the district council, has paid tribute to Cllr Buckley.

Cllr Campion said: "It is with great sadness that we learned of Cllr Buckley's passing.

"I would like to send his family and friends the sincere condolences of everyone here at Wyre Forest District Council.

"Many of his former colleagues and members of staff have fond memories of his time on the council."

Cllr Campion added: "And, I would like to place on record, my personal thanks for all he did for the communities he represented while serving on the council."
