CHESS enthusiasts will do battle on the boards in Bewdley during an annual competition next weekend.
The fourth Bewdley Chess Tournament will take place on Sunday, August 6 at the Wribbenhall Parish Rooms, on Kidderminster Road.
All proceeds from the contest will be donated to St Anne’s Church in Bewdley.
Earlier this month, a promotional event was held outside Bewdley Museum which saw passers-by stop by for impromptu games.
Organisers hope the competition will further boost the profile of the game in the town, as well as raise funds for the church.
Players will do battle for the Bewdley Mayor's shield, as well as a host of prizes donated by local businesses, and people of all ages and abilities are welcome.
Entry costs £4 and anyone interested in taking part can contact John Wrench on 07913 227402 or email j.wrench11@gmail.com
