A WOMAN has been taken to hospital after being assaulted with a bladed weapon in Kidderminster.

West Mercia Police officers were called to the scene of a domestic incident at a home in Broad Street at around 10am this morning (Friday, July 28).

Officers found a woman had been assaulted by a bladed weapon and she was treated by paramedics at the scene. She was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be serious. 

Armed officers were deployed to the scene as a precaution to help carry out searches in the area, after the offender left the scene.

Detective Sergeant, Timothy Macrae, of West Mercia Police, said: "We do not believe that there is a threat to the wider community, but as the public would expect of us, we are taking every precaution to locate this individual quickly and safely.

"We are conducting a thorough search of the area and carrying out enquiries at a number of addresses."
