A KIDDERMINSTER film company is gearing up for its next big project after three short films screened in the town were well received.

The Community Broadcast Company (CBC) is set to start production on ‘Tapestry’ with roles in front and behind the camera as well as sponsorship opportunities available.

And the company goes into this new project having been boosted by praise received for the film screenings held at St George’s Church in Kidderminster last month.

CBC produced the films after receiving funding from Worcestershire County Council’s ‘Community Learning Fund’. The aim of the project was to offer those out of work and living in Worcestershire work experience and involvement in a worthwhile scheme to add to their CVs.

The films promote awareness of bullying and domestic abuse, sign-posting to organisations to help those in crisis and it is intended that all three films become learning tools to be used in schools.

Sachia Mooney, producer, said: “We are delighted with how well our project has engaged our learners, how we exceeded our targets and how well all three films have been received.”

Nikki Stearman, Programme Manager of Worcestershire County Council’s Libraries and Learning Department and executive producer on the project said: “This gave individuals the opportunity to not only get involved in the development of a film, from start to finish, but to also feel that they were part of a team and in doing so built their self-esteem.”

Tapestry is being made in collaboration with the University of Wolverhampton.
