HOT air balloons are taking to the skies over Wyre Forest this week as part of a national competition.
The Goodyear Farm Tires National Hot Air Balloon Championships started on Monday (August 14) and will continue till Saturday (August 19).
The event will see more than 20 balloons flying morning and evening over Kidderminster for the week, with each pilot competing to become the best in Britain.
A practice flight also took place on Sunday morning (August 13).
The balloons set off from Wolverley CE Secondary School, with flights taking the balloons towards or away from the school - depending on win direction. Pilots use the wind at different heights to take them to predetermined points, where they drop a marker to indicate how close they get.
The favourite to win the competition this year is 24-year-old Dominic Bareford, from Cookley, who has won British Nationals on the last two occasions and has just returned from France, where he won the Coupe d'Europe.
