A HOCKEY club from Kidderminster is hosting a taster day this weekend to help attract new players.

Kidderminster Ladies Hockey Club will hold a two-hour taster session on Saturday (September 2) from 12-2pm at Droitwich Spa Leisure Centre in Briar Mill, Droitwich.

It will be an introduction to the club and is open to players of all abilities over the age of 14.

Giverny Gallagher, who has been a member of the club for several years, said: “Whether you're looking to try something new or dust off your old stick, we're a really friendly group of varying skill level with a very active social calendar.”

“Some of us joined whilst at school, then went away to university or to work, and re-joined when we moved back to this area.

“It’s a great way to de-stress and keep fit. Many of us work shifts, so chances are if you want a game, you will get one. Because we are a small club we can’t always field our best players, so we don’t just focus on winning; we enjoy the whole experience.”

“We wanted a pitch in Kidderminster for this session but unfortunately were unable to access one, so this event is in Droitwich. We are currently looking for an astro-turf pitch to train and play on regularly in Kidderminster.”

Anyone who wishes to take part will need to wear comfortable shorts of joggers and either trainers or astro turf boots. Hockey sticks will be provided for those who don’t have one.
