A CAR has crashed into a house on the Gilgal, in Stourport, this morning (September 4). 

West Mercia Police, firefighters from Stourport, Kidderminster and Droitwich stations and West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to the incident this morning, when a car ploughed into a house at around 6am.

The driver of the car was treated by paramedics at the scene.

A spokesman from West Mercia Police said: "We were called at around 6am this morning to a single vehicle collision in Stourport.

"The incident involved a silver Volkswagen Golf that had collided with a house on the Gilgal.

"The occupants of the property were uninjured.

"The road was closed at around 7.30am whilst emergency services dealt with the incident - it was later reopened at around 8.20am.

"Investigations are on-going to establish the circumstances involving the incident, and police are appealing to the public who may have witnessed the incident to please come forward."

A spokesman from WMAS said: "Ambulance staff were told that there had been a collision between a car and a van. But, the car ended up hitting a house.

"There was no van at the scene when the ambulance arrived.

"The car driver, a male aged 32, was treated for a minior injuries to his left leg and left hand. After treatment, he was discharged at the scene.

"There were two people in the property who were uninjured, but could not get out through the door.

"A single ambulance was sent to the scene."

Firefighters left the scene at around 8.30am after shoring up the building.

A spokesman from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service added: "There was structural damage to an external wall. Fire service personnel isolated the gas and electric at the property."

This is the second incident in two months, after a van ploughed into a house on the road on the evening of July 11.

Similar incidents also took place in October 2016, and August 2015.
