TWO Kidderminster siblings are getting on their bikes next week to support a cause close to their heart.

Jodie Hare, aged 21, and her 18-year-old brother Jacob will be cycling from London to Paris from September 13-17 as they look to raise £3,000 for the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT).

The pair suffered from eye cancer when they were young and were supported by the charity as they grew up so wanted to take on the tough challenge - that will see them complete an impressive 300 miles over four days – to give something back.

Primary school teacher Jodie said they’d never really cycled before they made the decision back in April to do the ride but, despite an injury setback, they are confident of succeeding.

She said: “We are looking to raise more than £3,000 between us for CHECT. Both my brother and I suffered from eye cancer when we were babies so we wanted to do something for the charity that helps so many.

“We’ve never really cycled before but we bought our bikes and have just gone on since then. We try to get out three or four times a week training and build up our distance cycling.

“I did have an accident a few weeks back where I fell and suffered a fractured arm so I’m not quite where I should be in terms of training. But we are confident and looking forward to getting to Paris.”
