A POPULAR festive fundraiser for a Kidderminster hospice will celebrate its 10th anniversary later in the year.

People are being urged to register for Kemp’s 10k Santa Fun Run is to be held on Sunday, December 3 from 10am to 3pm.

Hundreds of runners kick off Christmas every year by taking part dressed up as Santa. The route goes from Brinton Park, along the canal to Wolverley, through Marpool Estate and back onto the canal before returning back to Brinton Park.

To mark the event’s 10th birthday, Kemp has organised a new family 5k run, a free 1k Santa dash for children and a traditional Christmas market, organised by the Bewdley Chambermaids, on the park.

Shelley Stanley, Event Fundraiser at Kemp, said: “The first Sunday in December sees men, women, children and even dogs getting into the Christmas spirit and running the 10k route around Kidderminster in support of their local hospice.

“This year we are delighted to be introducing the new Family 5k run, perfect for people who can’t commit to doing a 10k run and for families who want to do this event together.

“Our 1k Santa Dash is free for children to take part in and we would love to see as many children as possible take part all dressed up in their Christmas outfits.

“Each child will receive a completion medal and we might even throw in a visit to Father Christmas.

“We are very excited and can’t wait to see our regular runners and some new faces at the event.”

During the day, there will also be stalls, live entertainment, choirs, food and drink vendors, children’s entertainers and Christmas tree sales.

People can register online for the 10k run, family 5k run and 1k Santa Dash at www.kemphospice.org.uk or by emailing Shelley on shelley.stanley@kemphospice.org.uk
