ACROSS Wyre Forest kettles are brewing and cakes have been baked to support the annual Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan Cancer Support’s flagship fundraising event and this year officially takes place today (Friday, September 29).
Last year schools, businesses, charities and community groups in Wyre Forest held coffee mornings helping to raise hundreds of pounds for the charity.
The Friends of Winterfold School are holding their Macmillan Coffee Morning at the Chaddesley Corbett school. Pupils, parents and staff have been enjoying coffee donated by Starbucks and homemade cakes to raise funds for the charity.
Staff at the Environment Agency office in Kidderminster have also been selling cakes.
Youngsters at Little Trinity Nursery also joined in the fun, raising more than £180.
Nursery manager, Gaynor Carter, said: “Macmillan is a charity we like to support because most of our families have some experience of cancer and it is such worthy work that Macmillan nurses do at often a very tragic time in a person’s life that we always want to do our bit to support them.
“The children at nursery all made cakes and biscuits throughout the week so that we were ready for our coffee morning and we invited all Little Trinity parents and friends to join us.
"The children decorated gingerbread men pictures and received a small treat for entering and a prize was given to each class for the most creative design, and all week we have been selling raffle tickets to raise money, with the winner announced at the coffee morning and we raised over £180!”
