POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was assaulted in a Kidderminster park on Sunday (October 8).

The incident took place between 3.30pm and 4pm, when the 14-year-old boy had been among a group of boys and girls of the same age in Brinton Park.

He is reported to have been assaulted by two boys from the group, aged between 14 and 15, who caused head injuries to the victim - which later required treatment.

PC Karen Shotton of West Mercia Police said: "This was a traumatic assault and we are working with the victim and family to provide support and reassurance.

"The park would have been very busy around the stated times and I'd like to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this assault to contact us.

"We are treating this as an isolated incident and I would like to reassure the local community that officers have been conducting enquiries in the area and are following a number of lines of enquiry at this time."
