PEOPLE in Wyre Forest are being invited to remember loved ones this Christmas and support a Kidderminster hospice through an annual appeal.

Kemp Hospice’s ‘Light Up A Light’ campaign enables people to dedicate a light on special trees accompanied by a dedication name tag.

The main tree stands in the Swan Centre in Kidderminster where it will be lit up following a blessing and dedication ceremony at 10.45am on Saturday, December 9.

Once the tree is lit a service of celebration will take place at Kidderminster Town Hall.

Kemp Hospice fundraiser Shelley Stanley said: “The ‘Light Up A Life’ tree and the celebration service is something I look forward to every year, and I know for many it has become a festive tradition in the Wyre Forest.

“Christmas is such a very special time of year for families but for those who have lost a loved one it can be very difficult.

“Our thoughts often turn to those who are no longer with us and our Light Up A Life campaign is a unique way to help people feel a little closer to them, and to make those memories shine.

“Everyone who donates and makes a dedication not only gets a light and a dedication tag but they also receive a special card to display at home with their loved ones name inside - this name will also be recorded in a special ‘Book of Memories’.

“Every light that shines on one of our trees this year is a unique, heartfelt tribute to those missed but definitely not forgotten.”

The campaign is being supported by Care UK, who run Kidderminster’s Brook Court – who are also taking part in Light Up A Life and have donated £100 to Kemp.

Brook Court care home customer relations manager Rachel Mackay said: “Here at Brook Court we feel privileged to have the end of life care planning support from Kemp Hospice, supporting us with essential training and keeps us up to date with any new protocols.

“We are proud to support Light up a Life and our residents are excited to share their memories on the Light up a Life Christmas Tree.”

This year other Light up a Life trees will stand at Bewdley Museum, Walton & Hipkiss Estate Agents in Kidderminster, at Co-Op stores in Stourport, Tenbury Wells, Cleobury Mortimer and Franche plus a special tree at the Kemp Hospice shop on Load Street in Bewdley.
