A HOST of Wyre Forest charities and organisations have benefited after generous Bewdley Rotary Club members handed over more than £4,000.

Rotarians raised the impressive total at a golf day and raffle held at Bewdley Pines Golf earlier this year.

Representatives of the recipients were invited to a buffet meal and to make presentations, each person describing their charity and how they would use the donation.

Those who received donations are Bewdley Street Pastors, Bewdley District Guides, Community Transport, Pound Green Village Hall, 1st Bewdley Cubs, Emily Jordan Foundation, Wyre Forest LAFs, Bewdley Youth Café, Prostate Cancer local branch, Max Appeal, Friends of Riverside North Park, Worcestershire Young Carers, St Basils Kidderminster, West Mercia Women's Aid, Kidderminster Refuge, Salvation army local corps, Taekwondo and the Stroke Association.

Bewdley Rotary president David Rees thanked Bewdley Pines, hole sponsors and Richard Vale for supplying the main raffle prize – a trip in a hot air balloon.

He also discussed the work Rotarians carry out, including the support they have given to the women’s refuge in Kidderminster. At the presentation a donation was made to purchase decorating materials and members and wives have volunteered to redecorate the refuge.
