A MULTI-talented teenager from Malvern was among the winners at this year’s Herefordshire and Worcestershire Sports Awards.

Lucy Walton picked up the aspiring talent award after competing for the England Schools Golf Team as well as England Blue under-17 hockey team.

The sports personality of the year prize went to Hereford FC, claiming 30 per cent of the public vote.

More than 250 amateur and professional sports people, local businesses and dignitaries gathered for the annual event at Sixways, organised by the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Sports Partnership.

Stephen Brewster, chief executive of the Sports Partnership said: “This has been our most successful awards to date.”

Hockey gold-medal winning Rio-Olympian, Kate Richardson-Walsh OBE was guest speaker at the event.

She added: “I am heartened to see the passion for sport that exists within Herefordshire and Worcestershire.”
