A HELPLINE has been launched to offer advice for people affected by the collapse of Black Country-based company Carillion.

The multi-national facilities management and construction company went into liquidation on Monday (January 25), putting around 20,000 UK jobs at risk.

The Black Country Chamber of Commerce has set up a dedicated helpline to support businesses affected by the crash.

The helpline has been created on behalf of the Carillion taskforce, which includes representatives from the City of Wolverhampton Council, Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), Department for Work and Pensions, West Midlands Combined Authority, Black Country Chamber of Commerce and the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy.

The government has promised support for Cariollion public sector projects and staff and liquidators are advising workers to continue to work as normal until told otherwise.

Carillion collapsed with debts estimated at £1.5bn and suppliers and sub-contractors face uncertainty over payment.

Businesses requiring support or which have questions relating to the situation at Carillion are urged call 01902 912322 or email carillionhelp@blackcountrychamber.co.uk.
