RESIDENTS in Kidderminster are being invited to a meeting to hear about work Severn Trent is about to start in the town.

The company will be working on Green Street, near to the entrance to Morrisons, to connect a new pipe and to install a new valve to help future proof the water network in the town.

Work is set to start on Sunday, February 18 and is expected to take around 10 days to complete.

A community drop-in session will take place on Monday, February 5 from 1pm to 6pm in the foyer of Morrisons supermarket.

Phil Smith, who is leading the project for Severn Trent, said: “This is a really important piece of work that will make sure our customers have a reliable water supply for many years to come.

“We’ve been working very closely with Wyre Forest District Council and Worcestershire County Council to plan this project and we’ve agreed a one-way system that will allow our engineers to work safely while also keeping traffic moving around the town centre.

“Now, we’re really keen to meet with local people to share our plans in more detail and listen to any views or concerns they may have.”

Severn Trent is currently working to repair a collapsed sewer pipe in Comberton Hill. Four way traffic signals are in place and the work is anticipated to be completed by the weekend.
