A NEW scheme to build affordable homes on the former Kidderminster Market Auctions site is expected to begin in the summer.
Wyre Forest District Council completed the sale of part of the public car park, in Comberton Place, to Wyre Forest Community Housing (WFCH) at the end of last year.
Planning permission for 23 homes has already been granted but work has been delayed due to existing telecoms equipment on site, which needs to be moved.
A spokesman for WFCH said: “The Community Housing Group has planning permission in place to develop 23 homes.
“We are working with our in-house contractor Oakleaf Commercial Services to deliver the scheme and we are on track to start on site in July 2018.
“The start date has been delayed due to EE telecoms equipment on the site that needs to be moved, we have been working with EE to agree an alternative location.”
Kidderminster Market Auctions closed its doors for the final time in October last year.
