A THOUGHT-provoking historical play is set to entertain and challenge audiences at a Kidderminster theatre.

The lives of pioneering actresses of the restoration take centre stage in the theatre’s upcoming production of Playhouse Creatures.

It will run from Monday April 9 until Saturday April 14 in the Studio at the Rose Theatre, with the show starting at 7.30pm.

The play deals with the trials and tribulations of women within the late seventeenth century, using resourcefulness to survive dangerous times. Audiences can expect comic characters with emotive accounts of the precarious lives of the actresses, performing a role that society has cast for them.

Its poignant themes of the production coincide with the 100-year celebration of women suffrage, relaying the social issue of women’s rights to a modern audience.
