A BRAVE Kidderminster schoolgirl had her flowing locks cut off to support children who had lost their hair through cancer.

Six-year-old Shelby Griffiths had her 12-inch long hair cut to a bob in front of her fellow students and staff from Franche Primary School during a special assembly.

Her selfless efforts mean her hair will be used to make a wig for a child undergoing cancer treatment while she also raised more than £500 for the Little Princess Trust to cover the cost of making it.

Hairdresser Kimberley Hoskins, of Salon Rouge Hairdressers, Cradley, kindly donated her time for free to help with the fundraiser.

Shelby’s mum Jessica said: “She has made me extremely proud with her bravery – she is a little superstar!

“She did this all off her own back and went out and raised the money herself. Shelby is such a selfless little girl.

“She heard about another child losing their hair after falling ill and she said she would have given her hair if she could. So she was adamant that she was going to do this.”
