SELFLESS students have raised an impressive sum for three children’s charities in support of a fellow pupil recently diagnosed with Leukaemia.

Children from Holy Trinity School and Sixth Form Centre in Kidderminster have raised £2544.96 in donations for children’s charities chosen by 8-year-old pupil Hunnie Morris, who was diagnosed with leukaemia last December.

A special school assembly was held on Monday April 23 with cheque donations each of £850 presented to representatives from Worcestershire Royal Hospital Day Clinic (Oncology), The Little Princess Trust and Hunnie’s parents on behalf of Birmingham Children’s Hospital – Ward 15.

The school community organised fundraisers including cake sales, a ‘wear something orange day,’ school and parent business events and discos, and a generous laptop donation.

Headteacher Mrs Pamela Leek-Wright said: “Supporting Hunnie and her family is close to our hearts with pupils, staff, parents and the Little Trinity Nursery community rallying together to offer help, friendship and support.

Despite her absence, Hunnie is still very much part of the Holy Trinity family and I know that there is tremendous support for the family through this difficult time.”

Liz Cox, Hair and Wig Specialist from The Little Princess Trust said: “We are very grateful to receive such a kind and generous donation from the school.

“The huge amount of £850 will go towards the purchase of two real hair wigs for sick children.”

Hunnie’s parents, Paul and Lucy Morris said: “We would like to say Holy Trinity School, pupils, teachers and parents have been a fantastic support to Hunnie and our whole family and they stay in regular contact and visit Hunnie too.

“We are very proud to give the money to such amazing charities and hospitals as the work and care they show for Hunnie and all the children with cancer is so much appreciated and this is one way we can show it.”
