A KIDDERMINSTER women’s group raised hundreds of pounds for charity through a bridge competition.
Kidderminster Soroptimist’s fourth successful Charity Bridge Drive was held on Wednesday 25 April at Blakedown Parish Room in aid of Alzheimers’ Research.
After a welcoming morning coffee, 62 players enjoyed several rounds of play until lunch before play resumed for a short afternoon session - all under the diligent supervision of expert professional Bridge adjudicators Mary and Paul Clayton from Hereford.
At the end the afternoon President Susan Merrill presented prizes of £40 to the winning pair whilst second and third placed pairs received £30 and £20 respectively but for once even losing had its reward: the pair with the lowest score received a consolation prize for £10.
Susan Merrill said: We are absolutely delighted we have around £600 to give to Alzheimers’ Research. The raffle alone raised £158.
“Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the competition and refreshments. We look forward to welcoming old and new Bridge playing friends to next year’s event on Wednesday, April 24 at the same venue.”
