BEWDLEY Town Council has taken on full responsibility for a sand play area in the town.
The facility, situated next to St Anne’s Primary School in Bewdley, has been popular with pupils and other children in the town and is the only play area in the vicinity.
It had been earmarked for closure some years ago when the Town Council stepped in to pay for its upkeep. The authority has now assumed all responsibility for the park.
Parents who use the park have also formed a Friends group which will work with the Council to raise money for new equipment and help look after the park.
Nick Farress, Town Clerk, said: “The council have now taken on a lease on the park which will secure its future.
“We are looking forward to working with the Friends group to make the park an even better place to play and learn”.
To help raise funds for new equipment, Noah’s Ark Toddler Group are holding a plant sale on Saturday, May 5 at the Baptist Church in High Street between 2pm and 4pm.
