Villagers looking to restore the floor of their community hall have been given a boost through a Wyre Forest District Council grant.
The authority contributed £500 from its Localism fund towards the £5,000 needed to repair rot that had started to deteriorate the building’s wooden floor.
Far Forest Village Hall is run by a group of volunteers and forms an integral part of the community. It regularly hosts a variety of sessions including coffee mornings, fund raising activities and private events.
Kit Coleyshaw, Far Forest Village Hall Committee Vice Chairman, said: “The hall plays such an important role in the village and to take a step forward in guaranteeing its long term future is brilliant.
“We are really grateful for the £500 grant which will help us replace our flooring.”
Councillor Marcus Hart, Leader of Wyre Forest District Council, said: “I’m delighted that the Localism fund has supported Far Forest Village Hall Committee in their new floor appeal.
“This is exactly what the Localism fund was set up to support, giving local groups the opportunity to take control of the day to day management of services - with greater freedom to enhance and adapt them to best suit local needs - while delivering efficiencies for the district.”
