SUSPECTED arsonists have torched two derelict buildings in Stourport within hours of each other.

Emergency services were on the scene of a huge fire at the old Stourport Sixth Form site on Saturday afternoon (May 12).

And within just a couple of hours fire crews tackled a second blaze at the former Burlish Park Golf Club as suspected aronists struck again.

A Stourport Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) spokesman said: "If you have any information of who started the two fires in Stourport then please call police and let us know.

"Names have been mentioned by witnesses but the more info we have the better."

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service received a first call to a blaze on the sixth form site off Windermere Way at around 2pm.

Plumes of black smoke were seen billowing into the sky.

A fire spokesman said the blaze was found in the Sixth Form Centre.

Ambulance crews were also in attendance but nobody is thought to have been inside the building at the time of the fire.

Stourport SNT advised residents to keep all windows and doors closed and call 101 if you saw anyone inside before the blaze.

Wyre Forest Inspector Jacob Wright added: "Large fire at the old Burlish school in Stourport. Emergency services managing the incident.

"Smoke is potentially harmful to health so please take precaution and avoid the area closing windows and doors.

"Any information regarding the cause of fire to 101."

A total of eight fire crews were sent to fight back the flames and contain the area.

But later in the afternoon Stourport SNT said there had been further reports of a fire at the nearby former Burlish Park Golf Club on Zortech Avenue.

The fire service confirmed they sent a further three crews to a second derelict building fire on the golf grounds on Zortech Avenue at 3.38pm.
