KIND pupils and staff from a Kidderminster school celebrated the Royal Wedding in style by raising hundreds for charity.

Offmore Primary School hosted a tea party, which saw parents and carers join staff and children, to mark the occasion.

And they raised around £500 which will be split between developing their playground and Place2Be, a charity that provides children’s mental health services to primary schools.

The school was transformed into a patriotic palace covered in Union Jack flags to celebrate the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on May 19.

Offmore’s PTA provided cream tea refreshments, and a variety of cakes and treats were also donated by staff, pupils, parents and carers.

Tabitha Smith, acting head teacher at Offmore Primary School, said: “The Royal Wedding is a time for celebration, and the children loved decorating the school to make it a place fit for royalty!

“As well as enjoying a fabulous selection of cakes and treats, it was a chance for parents and carers to visit the school and see all the wonderful work the children have produced.

“We are also very proud to support Place2Be, which provides vital mental health and wellbeing services to schools all over the country.

“Children’s mental health and wellbeing is a cause very close to our hearts, and we know it is also something the young Royals are passionate supporters of.

“We’re delighted at the generosity shown by the Offmore Primary School community, meaning we were able to raise such a fantastic amount of money for this amazing charity.”
