DEDICATED Wyre Forest slimmers prepared themselves for a new wardrobe by having a mega clothes clear out in aid of Cancer Research UK.

Slimming World members from Kidderminster, Bewdley, Stourport and Kinver celebrated losing 2,149 stone between them by donating their now too-big clothes to the charity.

As part of a national campaign, members of the local Slimming World groups were invited to donate the clothes, shoes, bags and accessories they no longer need since losing weight to local shops via a bag collection at their Slimming World groups.

And their efforts saw them fill an impressive 220 bags full of clothes. With each bag worth around £25 each, they are set to boost the charity by £5,500.

As well as fundraising, the campaign also aims to raise awareness of the links between obesity and cancer.

Local weight-loss Consultant Claire Wier said: “We’ve held a Big Slimming World Clothes Throw event for a few years now, and this year was even bigger and better.

“It’s such a liberating feeling having the confidence to bag up clothes you’ll never fit into again, all while raising money for an extremely important cause.

“Our members couldn't wait to make room for their new summer wardrobe by taking part – the atmosphere on Sunday was electric when we brought all the bags together!

“When we meet each week in our groups we laugh together, share challenges and tips for overcoming them, celebrate success and swap inspiration, tips and recipes.

“We really are one big family and we are so proud to see our members say goodbye to those larger sizes and set targets for enjoying a healthier holiday season feeling absolutely fantastic.”
