REVELLERS at an annual Bewdley festival are set for a ‘blinding’ time when the music celebration returns for an eighth year.

Hopfest will see a host of local musicians perform across four stages on Friday, June 15, Saturday, June 16 and Sunday, June 17 at Hopley’s Family Camping site in Cleobury Road, with this year having a ‘Peaky Blinders’ fancy dress theme.

It is the first time the festival has run on a Sunday and that day will feature the BBC Hereford & Worcester Introducing stage, as well as showcasing talent from Kidderminster College.

A host of bands will also be performing on stage on Friday and Saturday evenings with afternoon sessions, run in conjunction with Bewdley Youth Festival, also taking place.

Among the acts appearing on Friday from 6-11pm will be The Other Covers Trio, Coat of Many, Ivywoods, Melody Blue, Molly Mallinson and Beth Dalton – African Drumming Workshop and The Interactive Ring-Tone Quiz.

On Saturday, from midday to 11pm, the likes of The Stiff Joints, Pete Williams, Arcadia Roots, The Bug Club, GORK, The Humdrum Express, Rubella Moon, Teddy Matthews Band, Bryn Teeling, Plastic Scene, Ellisha Green, The Hannah Law Band, Mayfli, Chloe Mogg, Skewwhiff and the Bewdley School Showcase will be performing.

There will also be a Poetry Corner, the Festival Choir and workshops including, African drumming, crochet and belly dancing as well as an open mic DJ session run by the Revinyl team.

And Sunday, between midday to 8pm, will feature BBC H&W Introducing. Kidderminster College Stage Takeover, Esther Turner, The Dharma Bums, Drakelow May, Lost Tiger, The Severn Vibrations and The Clik Clik Collective Peaky Blinders kids’ Horse Race.

Organisers said that the growing popularity of the festival meant that all camping spots for the weekend were fully booked by February.
