FUNDRAISERS are hoping to leave guests shaken but not stirred at their first ever summer ball, which is a James Bond theme with a Latin twist.

The ball, hosted by Hagley Community Association and sponsored by Darmill Plumbing and Design, will take place between 7pm and midnight on Saturday (June 30) at Kidderminster Town Hall.

The organisers have gone all out on the entertainment, with the £15 entry including a seven piece live band and dance lesson, fun casino, and an auction and raffle – where top prizes include a holiday, spa vouchers and champagne tour of Hagley Hall.

Organiser Fran Evans said: “We decided on a Bond theme for our first ball as it's very popular especially with the hype about Daniel Craig soon to film his last Bond film.

“We gave it a Latin twist to create something a bit different and bring a summery tropical vibe.

“We’ve booked an amazing live band, Del Camino, who regularly sell out the Jam House and Revolution de Cuba bar month but there will be a casino and bar available as well so there’s something for everyone.

“Kidderminster Town Hall is a beautiful historic landmark building with parking close by at Weaver’s Wharf. Its art deco interior is almost identical to some of the lobbies of old-Habana hotels, with an old school glamour which is very James Bond.”

The main bulk of the money raised at the evening will go towards the rebuild of Hagley Community Centre.

Fran added: “We still need people to support this as match-funding and available funds are pretty low on the ground at the moment.

“If people help us fundraise, we can get started on a refurb fairly soon as most of the money is in the account. It won’t be as extensive as we hoped for initially though, as there’s less money available now.

“But if we don’t act soon to modernise it, the 106 developer money may have to be given back and all our fund-raising will be for nothing.”

Tickets are available in person from Co-op Hagley, Phinix Hairdressers, and Lily Blue, or buy them online at www.lovehagley.co.uk.

The night will also support two local charities, Leslie's Care Packages for the Homeless and start-up charity the Aurora Fund, which has been set up with the aim of helping young people with cancer achieve their goals.
