THE first 10k Cleobury Mortimer running race took place last Sunday July 1, which welcomed almost 200 runners to the country lanes and hills of the town.

Runners faced the scorching weather as they ran in the sold-out event organised by the Cleobury Mortimer Running Club.

Ludlow runner Jamie Shingler made it back first in the time of 37.58, with Jaydee Peters of Woking AC being the first female making a time of 41.49.

Race Director, Ian Steele, commented: “We have had such a fantastic turnout from both the runners and all the supporters.

“We couldn’t do this without the help from all our members of the club and their families who came along and helped the event to run smoothly.

“The club also want to thank everyone who helped by sponsoring the event and to the residents who showed real patience with the necessary road closures and incredible support in cheering the runners on and providing them with much appreciated hosepipe showers.

“We just keep receiving such great feedback from people which is a real buzz for the club and the 10k committee, and we look forward to running the same event in 2019.”
