NEIL Pinner has called for Kidderminster to quickly put their defeat against promotion rivals Shifnal behind them.

KCC suffered a six-wicket loss in the top-of-the-table crunch clash last Saturday.

They made 205-9 from their 50 overs after being put into bat by their hosts.

Opener Shameer Ahmed (30) and captain Pinner (30) top scored but it was a lack of partnerships that let the leaders down.

Steve Leach's unbeaten 96 and a fine 46 from skipper Chris Murrall led the replay and handed Shifnal a win that cuts the gap between the two sides to 31 with six games remaining.

Pinner said: "It was a big game for us and we were hoping to extend our lead but it just wasn't to be.

"We started well after losing the toss but just didn't manage to put any partnerships together. There were a lot of people who got into double figures but we didn't manage to put a partnership above 40 together.

"Regular wickets fell and we felt our score was just under par in the end.

"We knew what we needed to do with the ball but we just didn't get that bit of luck in the field. Catches we just dropping short or being chipped just over the field and I thought we got a bit unlucky with a few lbw shouts as well.

"That's not the reason we lost but it was just one of those days.

"The main thing is that we still have a lead at the top and it's still in our hands.

"We'll back the same guys to go out and get the job done this Saturday and we just need to put it behind us."

KCC will look to hit back when they host fourth-placed Oswestry at Chester Road this Saturday (noon start).
