A POPULAR Stourbridge counselling charity has opened its doors in Dudley.

The What? Centre, which already provides one-to-one therapeutic counselling and advice services for young people across the borough from its base in Stourbridge, now has a second centre in the heart of Dudley.

The Priory Street centre was officially opened on Friday September 14 by the Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Alan Taylor, and is set to provide free advice, creative groups and therapeutic workshops for young people aged between 13 and 25, through funding from the Big Lottery Youth Investment Fund.

The centre is also running What’s Up? - a Friday youth group where young people can play sport, video games, watch films, take part in creative activities or just chat.

Julie Duffy, chief officer of the centre, said: “The Stourbridge centre has already supported many thousands of young people with their mental health and social welfare over the last 30 years. We can now look forward to helping many more young people across the Dudley area in a fun and creative way.”
